Tony interviews Ringo Starr for the NME.

Tony interviews Mick Jagger, London 1969.

The Sixties come alive in the book Tony Norman is currently writing about his life with London Mod band The Rest. As a musician he played all-night gigs in Soho, recorded in the same studio as Van Morrison, shared a Brighton stage with The Troggs and turned down Paul Kossoff when he auditioned to join the band on lead guitar.

The Rest’s dream of appearing on Ready Steady Go never happened, but Tony did make it as a rock writer.

He interviewed Jagger, Lennon, Jimmy Page, Peter Green, Keith Moon, Marc Bolan, David Bowie and many more. Violence, broken hearts, teenage pregnancy: they were all part of growing up in that amazing time. And above it all the music, which sings from every page of this unique journey into the past.

Tony has written a new song about those all-night Soho gigs with The Rest in ‘65. He recorded the song – called Beautiful – with Colin Green, former lead singer with The Rest. Reaction to the Sixties-style track has been excellent. To hear the track please link below.

Alan Mullery and Tony Norman collaborated on Alan’s autobiography for Headline. It was ‘Book of The Week’ in the Sunday Times.

Tony worked with TV consumer expert Dominic Littlewood on his 2009 book, ‘Don’t Get Done, Get Dom’.
